Open PositionFull Time
Job Description
A fully funded PhD position is available to study the genetic basis of resistance to African Swine Fever (ASF) in both wild and domestic pigs. This project is a collaborative effort between the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) and the École Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort. The successful candidate will join a leading research group focused on viral diseases and host-pathogen interactions. The work will involve advanced techniques in virology, immunology, and bioinformatics to identify genetic markers associated with resistance to the ASF virus. By understanding why some suid populations are more resilient to the disease, this research aims to inform breeding programs and develop more effective disease management strategies. This is a critical opportunity to contribute to the global effort to combat ASF, a fatal disease with devastating economic and ecological impacts on the pork industry and wildlife. The position is ideal for a motivated candidate with a strong background in veterinary science, molecular biology, or a related field.
