Metacam 5 mg/20ml Solution for Injection for Dogs and Cats What is it?Metacam 5 mg/ml solution for injection for dogs and cats is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatorydrug (NSAID) which is a type of painkiller used to reduce pain and inflammation. In dogs, it can be used for the alleviation of inflammation and pain in both acute and chronicmusculoskeletal disorders, reduction of post-operative pain and inflammation following bothorthopaedic and soft tissue surgery. In cats, it can be used for the reduction of mild to moderate post-operative pain and inflammationfollowing surgical procedures such as orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery. Metacam 5 mg/ml canbe followed 24 hours later for up to 4 days with Metacam 0.5 mg/ml oral suspension for cats andguinea pigs. Metacam 5 mg/ml injection is available in 2 bottle sizes:• 10 ml• 20 ml How is it administered?Metacam 5 mg/ml solution for injection can be administered subcutaneously or intravenouslyto dogs, and subcutaneously to cats. Important informationMetacam can only be obtained with a prescription. For cats weighing less than 2 kg, Metacam®0.5 mg/ml oral suspension for cats and guinea pigs should be used.
