Pefloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. It possesses excellent activity against gram-negative aerobic bacteria such as E Coli and gram-positive bacteria including S.pneumonia, Salmonella, Staphylococcus.
It has broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. It inhibits the activity of microbial DNA gyrase. It has an elimination half-life of 8.6 hours and 100% bioavailability .
