A third generation cephalosporin antibiotic, which is administered to cattle and swine for. control of bacterial infections of the respiratory tract. It is used in veterinary medicine as both, the. sodium salt, and the hydrochloride. It is administered intramuscularly to cattle, including lactating. Each ml contains Ceftiofur hydrochloride equivalent to 50 mg Ceftiofur. Used in the treatment of respiratory tract and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria in cattle. Respiratory tract infections caused by Mannheimia spp. (Pasteurella haemolytica), Pasteurella multocida, Heamophilus somnus; acute interdigital necrobacillosis (fork rot, pododermatitis) infections caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus; and acute puerperal metritis infections caused by postpartum E. coli, Arcanobacterium pyogenes, and Fusobacterium necrophorum. 1 ml/50 kg body weight is administered intramuscularly (IM) and subcutaneously (SC).
