A type of active dressing in the form of hydrocolloid gel ANTICATERIAL – BITTER TASTE – SKIN TOLERANCE – ANTI-INFLAMMATORY – WOUND ISOLATION – MOISTURIZING Features: Optimum conditions within the wound – it ensures the appropriate water balance and gas exchange. Also, it cleans the wound of biological contaminations. Speeding up wound healing processes – it prevents infection and formation of bacterial biofilm. Safety: all of the latest scientific reports indicate that polyhexanide is safe for use on tissues. Kramer et al. indicate that PHMB is one of recommended antiseptic agents in wound healing. Bitter taste – it stops the animals from licking out of the preparation. Size: 30ml Indications: Chronic wounds Surgical wounds Infected wounds (bites, incl. wound pockets and recesses) 1st and 2nd degree burns Bedsores, abscesses and ulcerations Ingredients: Polyhexanide, Betaine, Nanosilver, Bitrex Application: 1- Prior to using the gel, it is advised to clean and decontaminate the wound using a wound irrigation fluid or perform surgical treatment if necessary. This step removes impurities and creates optimal conditions for further treatment. 2- Squeeze the gel tube and apply a thin layer (3-5 mm) directly onto the wound. Alternatively, a sterile spatula can be used for application. For deep wounds, fill the wound with gel up to two-thirds of its depth, ensuring it does not protrude above the skin surrounding the wound. 3- The wound should be covered with a secondary dressing. If the gel is changed daily, a secondary dressing is necessary to protect it from the animal licking it. The frequency of dressing changes depends on the procedure, nature, and condition of the wound. The gel can be changed daily or left in the wound for up to three days. 4- When changing the dressing, gently rinse any gel residues or other residues using a wound irrigation solution, taking care not to damage the wound. Various types of secondary dressings such as gauze or compresses can be used, and they can be soaked with the gel for enhanced effectiveness.
